The ASLEF, RMT and TSSA unions have announced strike action on 1 October, coordinated across other train companies and Network Rail. ASLEF are also striking on 5 October, with RMT and TSSA striking additionally on 8 October.
Due to the industrial action by drivers and traincrew on 1 October and by drivers on 5 October, please do not attempt to travel on Avanti West Coast – we will not be running any services on our routes.
Due to the action by traincrew and station staff on 8 October, customers should expect our existing timetable to be reduced significantly and those services that do run are expected to be very busy. We strongly advise you to only travel by rail if absolutely necessary on 8 October. If your journey is essential, please plan ahead as your entire journey will likely be severely disrupted. The days after industrial action will also be affected.
We are continuing to work on our revised timetable for 8 October. As soon as this is confirmed, it will be published on our website https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/travelinformation/plan-your-journey/timetables along with the dates we expect correct timetables to be displayed in online journey planners and when tickets and reservations for these services will be available to book.
Customers with tickets dated 1 to 9 October can claim a full refund from their point of purchase or can use those tickets on alternative dates:
Tickets dated 1 October will be accepted anytime between now and 4 October.
Tickets dated 5 October will be accepted anytime between now and 7 October.
Tickets dated 8 October will be accepted anytime between now and 10 October.
To minimise the number of people disrupted while our amended timetables are finalised, we suspend sales of tickets for strike dates and the affected days after industrial action.
Once each day’s timetable is confirmed and we know which trains are running, some Advance fares will be back on sale.
Customers should continue to check our website (https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/travel-information/plan-your-journey/strike) and those of other operators, for updates. We’re disappointed with this industrial action and we are sorry for the inconvenience it will cause.
