In July, Strines will see a much-loved E Nesbit classic chugging onto the Strines Pavilion stage to delight all the family!
The Railway Children, the classic novel by E Nesbit, has been adapted by Charis McRoberts and is being staged by Paperback Theatre on Saturday 25 July at Strines Pavilion. Regular family-theatre attendees may remember Playback Theatre’s 2025 tour of The Wind in the Willows and The Wizard of Oz. The ensemble are now back to bring another beloved story to Strines, close to the station that is believed to have inspired E Nesbit’s novel!
The show will start at 3pm, with doors opening at 2pm, on 25 July. The play is 100 minutes long, including a 20-minute interval. It’s free to attend – courtesy of us! – but if you’d like to donate towards the work of our CRP you will be able to do so on the day. All donations will be gratefully appreciated and support the work we do in the community and our local rail network.
Those attending should be aware that there is no seating at the venue. Audience members are advised to bring blankets or camping chairs to sit on for the performance. Soft refreshments will be available to buy in the Pavilion.
Parking is limited so it’s recommended to enter into the spirit of the show and arrive by train – Strines Station is a short walk from the venue.
