Hope Valley Art Trail by Rail returns in September!

News
Stockport

Over a weekend in September, the Hope Valley line will be a haven for artists, creatives and cultural enthusiasts as the Art Trail by Rail returns for a second year.

On the weekend of 26-27 September, from 10am until 5pm, everyone is invited to jump on the Hope Valley line to take part in this unique celebration of local creativity and sustainable travel!

The idea is to travel the line, hopping on and off the various stations to enjoy the local artistic events. Artists will be opening their studios and gardens to exhibit their creations, while there will be an opportunity to take part in various workshops too.

Entertainment is planned at various locations, with the chance to get some handmade artistic gifts and enjoy some refreshments all along the route!

While the 2026 guide hasn’t yet been published, last year involved 18 artists taking part across 9 venues between Edale and Grindleford. There were workshops in sketching, collage, pottery and painting, with a special opening of historic Padley Chapel. You bet the second year is going to be even better!

Keep an eye out for the Art Trail by Rail booklet on this website (we’ll add it onto this page when we see it!), on the organiser’s website, and in local cafes for some copies closer to the time.

Save the date and indulge in the pleasurable combination of rail travel, artistic endeavours and the charm of the Hope Valley.
