We were thrilled to hear that Stockport Station is going to be transformed into what Stockport Council and Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) are calling ‘a landmark new gateway’ to the city. It is envisaged to be a modern, accessible, and better-connected transport hub and forms part of wider plans to invest in and re-shape Stockport.
The early-stage proposals for the development of the station are now in a period of public consultation, which means you can have you say! The plans include new station buildings, a new footbridge to connect the town centre and Edgeley, improved accessibility, better walking and cycling routes, improved public spaces and better connections with the wider Bee Network.
All the feedback from the consultation will be reviewed and used to develop the plan further, so your comments could make a difference. We have shared feedback and we encourage you to do the same!

The consultation runs until 19 November 2026. Read the proposals and complete a feedback form on this website www.yourstockportstation.co.uk. You can also read more about the plans in the press release here: First look at plans for ‘once in a generation’ transformation of Stockport Railway Station – Stockport Council

15 October, 2.30pm to 6pm, Stockroom, Merseyway
4 November, 12.30pm to 4.30pm, Stockport Exchange 2
9 November, 4pm to 8pm, Our Lady’s Primary School, Edgeley
