In early May, Handforth Station said ‘Croeso’ to their latest totem with the arrival of a generous donation from Transport for Wales!
Passengers using the southbound platform will now see a new sign that translates Handforth into Welsh as Rhydymaen, a loose translation indicating a ford of stone.
Friends of Handforth Station, who have become renowned for their fast-growing collection of multi-national totems – there are over 20 – were delighted by the donation from Transport for Wales (TfW). This donation was made to coincide with the country-wide celebrations for Railway 200.
The Friends welcomed James Nicholas, TfW Communications Business Partner, and Lowri Joyce, TfW Welsh Language Strategy Lead to Handforth for the official unveiling. The pair had travelled from Swansea to see the new sign erected and Lowri Joyce said:
“We are pleased to provide this totem to be a legacy for Railway 200 and join the other 20 multi-national signs at Handforth.”
