TransPennine Express will be carrying out essential engineering works on two area of the network during March which will cause some disruption to passengers. These two are on the Hope Valley corridor (south routes between Manchester and Sheffield) and the East Coast Main Line (north routes).
On the weekend of 7-8 March and 14-15 March, and on Sunday 22 March 2026 there will be no TransPennine Express services between Sheffield and Doncaster. Services will be diverted and won’t call at Stockport.
Services between Manchester and Sheffield will run an alternative route. Customers travelling between Sheffield and Doncaster or travelling to Stockport are advised to use Northern services.
On the weekends of 7-8 March, 14-15 March, 21-22 March and 28-29 March there will be works on the East Coast Main Line.
No trains will call at Northallerton on all of these dates except 7 and 14 March. Rail replacement buses will operate between Darlington, Northallerton and Thirsk, with additional links via Durham and Newcastle.
Buses will replace trains between York and Newcastle every weekend throughout the works. An hourly diverted LNER service will operate via the Durham Coast.
Buses will also replace trains between Middlesbrough and Redcar Central/Saltburn on selected dates.
