Stockport railway station weekend closure 4-5 October

News, Updates
Stockport

Passengers should be aware that Stockport railway station will be closed on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October to allow for Network Rail to continue their work on the Greek Street bridge.

Rail replacement buses will be in service over the weekend and passengers should expect some disruption and delay. Those travelling between Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester are advised to check the route and any changes by visiting nationalrail.co.uk.

The £20m-bridge renewal project previously disrupted passengers using Stockport railway station in August when the station was closed for 21 days to allow for the replacement of the bridge. This October weekend closure is to allow the team to remove a redundant wall and start the process of re-instating the road and walls of the roundabout on the top of the bridge.

Network Rail has assured passengers that, following this weekend closure, Stockport railway station will not be closed again until Christmas Day and Boxing Day, when engineers will use the bank holiday closure to continue their work.
