Crewe Heritage Centre: Vintage rail, bus and other vehicles. There is a two-for-one offer for all visitors with valid rail ticket. Visit the Crewe Heritage Centre website for more details.

Alderley Edge: The wooded escarpment from which the village takes its name is a fascinating place to explore with its history, legends and panoramic views. The ‘Edge' is within walking distance of the train station - see this page for further details and also the National Trust Alderley Edge webpage 

Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Country Park (nearest station - Styal): One of the premier heritage tourist attractions in the North West, Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Country Park makes an excellent day out. Visitors with valid rail and/or bus ticket can visit the Apprentice House or Secret Garden free of charge when purchasing a main entrance ticket. Manchester Airport - Runway Visitor Park and Concorde: The newly refurbished visitors centre at Manchester Airport is free of charge for visitors arriving by public transport. Bramall Hall (nearest station - Cheadle Hulme): Bramall Hall is a beautiful black-and-white timbered building set in attractive grounds. Bramall Hall is just over a mile away from Cheadle Hulme station along a signposted route. Stockport - Art Gallery, Hatworks, Air Raid Shelters and Staircase House: All of these attractions are within easy walking distance of the train station and can also be accessed by using the free Town Centre Shuttle bus. If visiting Bramall Hall in addition to the Air Raid Shelters and Staircase House, you can save money with a Combined Entry ticket. There are also frequent ‘kids go free' promotions. HERITAGE OPEN DAYS 10TH - 12TH SEPTEMBER - FREE ENTRANCE TO LOCAL VISITOR ATTRACTIONS

A number of local visitor attractions which can be accessed from the Crewe-Manchester line will be offering free admission as part of the national Heritage Open Days initiative from Friday 10th - Sunday 12th September.

There will also be tours of private buildings which are normally closed to the public.

CHELFORD VILLAGE CIRCULAR WALK NOW AVAILABLE

A 4 mile circular walk exploring the countryside around Chelford is now available.  The walk which starts and finishes at Chelford train station gives a perfect introduction to the picturesque countryside which surrounds the village.  The walk is available to download here.

'SCARBOROUGH FLYER' STEAM TRAIN FROM CREWE, WILMSLOW AND STOCKPORT TO YORK AND SCARBOROUGH

Every Friday from 23rd July to 10th September inclusive, the 'Scarborough Flyer' Steam Train operated by the Railway Touring Company, will run from Crewe, Wilmslow and Stockport to York and Scarborough.
