LIVE MUSIC TRAIN TO GOOSTREY: THURSDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER 10th September 2009 On Thursday 10th September, 'Last Call' will be performing Traditional Folk music on the 19:04 train from Manchester Piccadilly to Goostrey.
The train calls at Levenshulme (19:09), Heaton Chapel (19:12), Stockport (19:17), Cheadle Hulme (19:24), Handforth (19:28), Wilmslow (19:31), Alderley Edge (19:34) and Chelford (19:38), before arriving at Goostrey.
Keith Smith and Richard Bateman are ‘Last Call.’ Both have played in a number of electric blues bands over the years, but they love to return to the acoustic folk blues roots as often as they can. Ric blows a mean blues harp, which perfectly complements Keith’s impassioned vocals and wild dobro bottleneck guitar. Drawing on the rich heritage of American folk blues, their love of the music comes across strongly, as does their sense of fun. They have shared stages with Martin Carthy, James Hunter and Martin Simpson among others. Infectious singalongs and down-home grooves aplenty. They may be middle-aged English fellas, but man, can they play the blues!
Upon arrival at Goostrey, the music continues in the Red Lion pub, a short 7-8 minute walk from the station, before returning on the 22:01 departure from Goostrey back up to Manchester. Note that this train does not call at Heaton Chapel and Levenshulme - for these stations, passengers change at Stockport onto the 22:35 departure to Bolton, which calls at both stations. If two of you are travelling together, you can save 25% off the cost of your journey with a Duo ticket. |
